Prince Jackson says that he still hears his late father’s voice in his head and said that “he’s my moral compass”.
Michael Joseph Jackson Jr, 24, also known as “Prince”, is an American television personality and actor. He is the first child of the late king of pop, Michael Jackson. His biological mother is Debbie Rowe, Michael’s former wife.
Prince spoke to Good Morning Britain hosts Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins on Thursday as he explained why he has carried on his Michael Jackson legacy by hosting the annual Thriller Night Halloween costume party.
However, the late singer’s eldest son opened up to the presenters and revealed that he can “still hear” his late father’s voice. He claims that his dad is guiding him with his charitable work.
When asked about hearing Michael’s voice by Adil, the star opened up about what he believed his father would tell him.
“I heard that you often still hear your father – you can hear him still speaking to you,” Adil asked. “That’s quite incredible tell us about that.”
“So it’s not like a voice in my head,” Prince said. “But in a way it is because when you do philanthropic work and you care about it a lot such as myself and my family you tend to carry the weight or the struggles of the people you’re trying to help.”
“That’s really when I hear my father’s voice the most because those are the times when you struggle the most and you almost wonder, how can I continue to keep doing this?” he said.
“And it’s during those moments that I hear him, somebody has to do it, you have to do it, you have to keep pushing forward and it’s important that we do this,” he revealed. “He’s always on my shoulder, in my ear motivating me to keep that moral compass pointing north if that makes sense.”
Prince will host the annual Thriller Night Halloween party at the Jackson family estate on October 29. The fundraising event will benefit Prince’s nonprofit organization The Heal Los Angeles Foundation.
“From a young age, as a young child my father was very adamant about giving back to the community and it’s just a drive that he instilled in myself and my siblings,” Prince explained.
“If I couldn’t give back to the community if I couldn’t help children, I don’t really know what I would do with my life,” he added. “Every time I do this work I do feel that not only am I making my father proud that I’m continuing this.”
“But I think he would also be happy that not just his son, but someone my age is trying to continue that message of love and positivity and to spread this idea that we should care for one another,” he said.
GMB viewers were very impressed with Prince’s stance on charitable work and giving back to those in need and took to Twitter to give him praise.
“This is the first time I’ve ever heard Prince Michael Jackson talk,” one fan said. “What a polite, kind, and level-headed young man he is. His Dad would be so proud.”
Host Adil also asked the philanthropist what it was like for growing up with the iconic pop star as a father.
“I think human beings are very resilient, so a lot of people expect that answer to be very extravagant or different but that’s how I was raised and that’s all I knew, so that was really normal for me,” Prince said. “But when it comes to the Foundation, and Michael Jackson as my father and him as a parent, he is inextricably tied to the Foundation because of the positive experiences he gave me and that he made an effort to give me in my childhood.”
He was also asked about how his father would view the movement and Britney Spears’ bid to have her conservatorship ended.
“That’s a very tough question just because I don’t like to put words in my father’s mouth,” he explained.
“I can’t say that I ever heard him mention anything about that and obviously this is something that’s really come to light in recent years,” he continued.point 265 |

“I would think that he would be very supportive of her cause,” he said. “And he would understand the place that she’s coming from, and I think he would wholeheartedly support her.”
Jackson was named after both his paternal great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, who were also called Prince. He has one sister, Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, and one half-brother Prince Michael “Blanket” Jackson II.
