Prince William, who is second in line to the throne, says he does not believe that he is ‘trapped’ within the system of the British monarchy, a source has revealed.
Royal sources say that the Duke of Cambridge has ‘accepted’ his role and ‘the path set for him.’
The source told The Sunday Times: “He is very much his grandmother’s grandson in that respect of duty and service.”
Sources close to the Duke of Cambridge said that he was left ‘reeling’ by the ‘way off the mark’ remarks, adding that his ‘head is all over the place on it.’
“Once he got over the anger of how things happened, he was left with the absence of his brother,” friends said to The Sunday Times.
“They shared everything about their lives – an office, a foundation, meetings together most days and there was a lot of fun along the way. He’ll miss it forever.”
A close friend of the two dukes said William “definitely feels the pressure now that it’s all on him – his future looks different because of his brother’s choices. It’s not easy.”
Another pal said that the key to the future king’s success and happiness is his marriage to Kate, saying: “They’ve got a solid relationship and she gives him confidence. There’s no jealousy, no friction.
“They are happy for each other’s successes.”
This comes after Prince Harry claimed that Prince William and their father Prince Charles are ‘trapped’ in the British monarchy’s system.
The Duke of Sussex made the remarks during their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“I myself was trapped. I didn’t see a way out. I was trapped but I didn’t know I was trapped,” he expressed.
When asked about what he meant, the Duke said: “Trapped within the system, like the rest of my family are. My father and my brother, they are trapped. They don’t get to leave.”
The Queen’s son, Prince Charles, is next in line to the throne while the Duke of Cambridge is second in the line of succession.
Prince William’s first son, Prince George of Cambridge, is third in line, followed by his daughter Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, and then third child Prince Louis of Cambridge.
Prince Harry is sixth in line to the British throne while his son Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor is seventh in the line of succession.
