Angry Father Confronted Principle For Allowing 12-Year-Old Students Leave School For Protest

A father from Ventura, California, recently posted a video showing a heated argument he had with his son’s school principal.

The confrontation took place after students across the country walked out of schools, the last Wednesday, for protesting gun control laws in the wake of Florida school shooting that claimed 17 lives.

The father, John Gunn, met with Barbara Boggio, principal of the Ventura Unified School District, and asked her the reason behind giving permission to 12-year-olds to partake in the protest.

“I want to know who authorized these kids to go out and leave the class when I wasn’t even notified about it,” he questioned the principal, in the video, he shared on Facebook.

The principal replied, “As our school planned for who and what, we anticipated something …”

Gunn interrupted her and said, “6th graders? 6th graders? When do 6th graders make decisions?”

“When do 12-year-olds make decisions? You’re an adult, you’re the school, you’re supposed to teach my child. You don’t influence my child in any which way. Democrat, liberal, Republican, whatever it is. I want it out of the school system,” he continued.

“So why did my son have to sit in that class—because he didn’t leave—but why wasn’t I notified?”

Boggio had no proper explanation for her action, nevertheless, she told him that if it is the choice of a student to leave then that is their choice.

Hearing this absurd explanation, Gunn said, “What do you mean that’s their choice? They’re 6th graders!”

“If this wasn’t a protest and this wasn’t happening, you would let the kid leave?” he fired back.

She replied, “I would make sure they were safe.”

“I want to know who let them go? I’m going to sue the school district. I already have a lawyer. I wasn’t notified that you were going to allow this,” the angry father said.

Gunn told IJR (Independent Journal Review) that he called the school’s superintendent but they were not there at the time.

The father was told that he would be contacted by human resources later, but he hasn’t heard from anyone over the last three days.

“They should have kept the kids inside the classroom since they are 12 and 13-years-old,” Gunn told IJR. “They shouldn’t be pushing their liberal agenda on kids that know no better.”

IJR requested the comments of Principal Bobbio on this incident but she said that she will not be making any comments.
