A professional gamer and the only woman to participate in the LoL Championship Series has passed away from, as of this writing, undisclosed causes at the age of just 24.
Young Maria ‘Remilia’ Creveling from Las Vegas was a pro League of Legends player who competed in the LCS of the worldwide recognized e-sport.
“It is with great sadness that I inform you that my best friend Maria Creveling passed away peacefully in her sleep yesterday,” Richard Lewis, the woman’s friend, announced on Twitter after the passing.
“Her absence will leave a void that can never be filled. She would not have wanted any lengthy statements or grand eulogies.”
While the gamer was well-known in the e-sport communities around the world, her friend insisted that fame was never something she was after.
Despite her successes in the gaming industry, Maria, who was a transgender woman, received a lot of criticism based on transphobic and sexist thoughts during her career.
“My girlfriend Maria died last night, she wouldn’t want any lengthy public statement, so all I’ll say is the 4 months I knew her were the best of both our lives and although she deserved so much more, it was a privilege to know her for the short time I did,” the 24-year-old’s boyfriend expressed in a Twitter post.point 533 |

As Associated Press previously reported, gaming fans often disputed Maria’s gender identity and made fun of her skills and looks on the internet.
Responding to Twitter posts by Lewis and Maria’s boyfriend were the woman’s most loyal fans who spoke out to wish her eternal peace.
“I’m so sorry to hear this, I really looked up to her, and although she would never know she did a lot to help me get the confidence to be who i am today, sending all my love to you and her family & friends,” someone wrote.
“She was the one inspiration I had to get into playing league and playing professional when I was younger, I’ll miss her,” another one said.
