A university professor has passed away after collapsing in front of her students and gasping for air amid her online lecture.
46-year-old professor Paola de Simone, who taught at Universidad Argentina de la Empresa in Argentina, started suffering from severe respiratory problems during her lecture via Zoom.
As the local media reported, the woman was gasping for air and struggling to move as her students asked her for her home address so that they could send help over.
Sadly, however, the professor succumbed to her condition. According to the reports, it is believed that the 46-year-old died from COVID-19 complications after suffering from symptoms of the disease for several weeks.
In August, de Simone took to social media to share that she had been exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms for over one month.
“It is very complicated. I have been here for more than four weeks and the symptoms do not go away,” the professor wrote in her post. As she also expressed, her husband, who is a frontliner, was also exhausted from overworking.
Despite experiencing persistent cough, the professor continued to work from home and provide lectures to her students.
Following the mother’s passing, the university she had worked for paid her a tribute and dubbed de Simone a “passionate and dedicated teacher.”
May she rest in peace.
