Teen’s Prom Photos Went Viral Because Online Bullies Couldn’t Stop Criticizing Her

Prom is a truly magical night, one last party with all of your high school classmates before you all begin your lives as adults.

For many women, it’s finally a chance for them to wear a stunningly beautiful dress to impress everyone. The dress can really make or break an amazing prom night.

For Tayja Jones, her prom night actually went perfectly.point 188 | She showed off her dress when she stepped out with her date and stunned all of her friends.point 262 |

The group had an amazing time at the prom dance and created memories that would last a lifetime.point 79 | The problems for Tayja Jones started when she posted the photos to her Instagram.point 205 |

While she was out partying with her friends and having a blast, evil internet trolls were sending her hundreds of rude comments.point 107 | The trolls attacked her weight viciously as they tried to tear her down.point 167 |  point 169 | 1

It was a nightmare for Tayja. Her photos finally went viral, but for the worst possible reason and now she was receiving hundreds of vile comments insulting her looks and her body. Tayja told Fox 29‘s Shawnette Wilson about her experience reading through the comments.

“There were just like so many rude remarks and negative comments about how I looked. People I didn’t know just like, ‘That dress is not for her, she looks like a fat something.’ It was just really hurtful because I was so confident the day before and it just changed my view of myself.”

It’s hard to believe that there would be people so evil as to mock a teenage girl for wearing a prom dress.point 303 |

But that’s really what happened.point 34 | Her dress wasn’t provocative nor offensive.point 78 | She looks absolutely beautiful in the dress.point 116 | Yet hundreds of comments kept pouring attacking her for having the nerve to post a picture of herself being excited for her very first prom.point 232 |

Tayja’s mother began to worry as Tayja began to show signs of depression.

She was just really depressed and sad. She doesn’t want to go out the house. She doesn’t want to go to school. She doesn’t want to go nowhere

Fortunately, there was hope for Tayja as people began to flood the comments with love and support for Tayja and her beautiful dress. People were finally standing up to the bullies and giving Tayja the support she so desperately needed. Tayja read one touching comment out loud.

“We’re all God’s creatures perfect in his image. Shaming someone not only brings them down but brings yourself down with them. Spread love not discrimination”

A mindset we here at SmallJoys wish more people had. We should be supporting each other as we will never know when will need help from others. Our hearts are with Tayja as she recovers from this awful treatment. No one deserves to be treated this way.
