Julianna Courneya, the victim who was pregnant, has been in a coma after being raped, beaten, and left behind by Albert Muckle in 2005.
To this day, she still remains in a “vegitative state,” and cannot speak, leaving behind a lot of physical and mental scars behind on the girl.
His case is relevant today, for police have denied him to do parole based on multiple factors that include being dangerous, having multiple offenses as to why he was denied.
The parole tells Muckle a reason they denied him parole: “Your actions caused immeasurable pain and suffering both to your victim and her family. You were not able to demonstrate any insight into why you engaged in such a violent attack on a stranger, nor did you accept responsibility for the offence.”
Albert Muckle, perpetrator, did not even know the girl and beat her to the point where she fell unconscious. He even stole her money, left briefly, only to come back to rape the girl and continue his monstrous actions by strangling her with her purse.
The poor girl was an upcoming bride, found on the street unconscious hours later the incident occurred.
Police had denied his patrole, his case shows that Muckle is guilty to sexual assault that has been aggravated along with an attempted murder. Looking into his history, in his teenage years, he had been already been declared dangerous, being left with an indefinite sentence.
Courneya’s identity had been hidden for two years, her publication ban had been lifted in order to ask for help and reach out for her health. They began to ask for help on covering medical costs for the girl, yet she is still not fully recovered from the horrendous incident. She needs a “very high level 24/7 care,” says her father.
The court brought attention to Muckle’s “very difficult and destructive upbringing,” taking note of his addiction to not only alcohol, but drugs as well all by the age of 13. The perpetrator has also suffered abuse due to his living conditions under multiple foster homes.
He was born in prison, his criminal history begins at the age of 12, coinciding with an incident where he stabbed a cab driver while he was drunk. He also was a part of a prison gang war, being transferred to another institution.
