Dogs are certainly man’s best friend.
There have been times where dogs have literally saved man’s life. Recently a puppy cured a man after he was crushed between bus and armored chair.
John Lewis often visited schools as a part of his duty in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. It was a regular Friday afternoon back in June 2004 that changed his life drastically.
Lewis was out showing the students an armored carrier, i.e., a military vehicle used to transport personnel and equipment in a war zone. The school bus took a reverse turn into the car park and couldn’t spot him.
Within a few seconds, John was sandwiched between the bus and troop carrier. John recollected the memories of that day and said that he couldn’t breathe for a while everything happened quickly and he was in shock.
He knew that he had to get out of the way because if the car would have reversed again it would have definitely killed him.
With shattered pelvis and broken hip and leg, John managed to crawl six meters to get out of the way. He was rushed to the hospital right after the scene. He broke so many bones and had to remain in traction till the bones rebuilt.
John has suffered from major injuries that doctors couldn’t even perform surgeries for six months. He underwent 11 operations after that. When he was discharged from the hospital the first thought that hit his mind was will he be able to walk again.
Later John got married and had two kids as well. Though his physical condition was improving with time, John wasn’t able to recover from the trauma. Gradually the mental trauma was taking a toll on his life and was affecting his marital life as well.
Last year, Jon was introduced to the concept of animals’ therapeutic power at a Combat Stress hospital. Doctors told him a puppy might help him fight the anxiety issues. That’s exactly what happened with the presence of a four-legged companion, John’s mental state was improving.
Gibson, the puppy helped him combat stress, anxiety and improve concentration as well. He loved the fact, how Gibson has changed his life inside out. He can’t thank him enough.
