The incident took place at an isolated stop located between Kingston on Murray and Wigley Flat where a mother and daughter came upon a horrific sight.

After hearing cries coming from a nearby trash bin while enjoying their lunch, Nicole Olsen and her daughter, 6-year-old Harper, went to investigate the matter only to come across a litter of puppies stuffed into two large dog food bags.

According to the reports, both bags were shut with a wire and zip locks at the top.

After the mother and daughter opened the bags, they came across eight Kelpie-cross pups that were in terrible condition. Sadly, two of the doggies located at the bottom of one of the bags were already unconscious and covered in maggots.

Following their disturbing discovery, the mother and daughter quickly pulled the puppies out of the concrete-metal bin and gave them water.

After the family returned back to their home in Gawler, the RSPCA took over the puppies and provided them with emergency treatment.

Unfortunately, one of the little pups died during the transport. Another one had to be put down due to the severity of its conditions.

The surviving six puppies have since been taken in by foster carers whereas they are expected to make a full recovery. As the officials confirmed, the five-week-old puppies will be put up for adoption once they are old enough.

“These puppies were found purely by chance, and we have no idea how long they had been there,” Andrea Lewis, a chief inspector at RSPCA South Australia, said.

“You would have to assume that whoever did this did not want those puppies to survive, because this person has not only left them in a remote location but they have also put these young animals inside tightly secured bags, and then put the bin’s lid down.

“It truly beggars belief that anyone could do this to eight vulnerable puppies, and we urge anyone with any information about who might be responsible to come forward.”
