All dogs deserve a forever home but not all of them are lucky enough to find the right person or family.

It is a difficult decision to euthanize any animal but shelters have to follow the procedure every day.

A 7-month-old puppy named Rudolph had to be put down by vets in Iowa as the shelter was too full. But after the process, they witnessed a wonderful miracle as the labrador-pitbull mix came back to life.

What happened was so strange that vets didn’t want to euthanize him again. Rudolph was then taken to Kings Harvest Pet Rescue No Kill Shelter which wrote a statement that reads: “Euthanized but lived:

“Rudolph is 7 to 8 months old. He has quite the story. He was at shelter that was full so the vet euthanized him. But God had a different plan because he woke up. And thank goodness the vet said he wouldn’t do it again.

“So we brought him to our shelter in hopes somebody would come adopt him and give him a second chance at life. If you’re interested in this adorable young man stop by and meet him we’re open 10 to 5 every day except Sundays and Thursdays.”

Rudolph’s story went viral and people were sending applications to adopt the pooch. When staff arrived only a day after posting the story on Facebook, they had so many missed calls from people wanting to take the pup home.

Kylie Jo Mitchell of Kings Harvest Pet Rescue No Kill Shelter said to WQAD: “He’s a miracle dog, absolutely. I’ve never heard of anything like this ever, this is a first.”

Jacob Hommer, one of the people who wanted to take Rudolph home, said to the news site: “My family and I we have bred Siberian Huskies for combat veterans, Purple Heart recipients, combat wounded veterans.

“I sent him the story on this dog. I said, ‘Check this dog out and the incredible story.’”

He added: “Having a dog, it’s something to wake up and fight for and especially a lot of these vets they are struggling to find a reason to get up in the day.”

The shelter updated on Facebook: “Rudolph is heading to his forever home. It was a tough decision with so many wonderful applications but Rudolph fell in love with this young man and the feeling was mutual.”
