A dog’s love and loyalty to his owner almost cost him his life.
The hound/Doberman pinscher mix puppy was cruelly abandoned on the side of the road with only a television and a recliner. This poor pup didn’t leave the area for days as he waited patiently for the return of his owner.
An animal control officer with the Brookhaven Police Department, Sharon Norris, said she got a message about a dog sitting on the side of the road.
“I get a message this morning to go check out this dog that’s in the chair, this is what I pulled up and seen,” she wrote on Facebook.
“To the person that dumped this chair, your puppy was waiting for you to come back,,slowly starving to death because it was afraid to leave the chair to find food. shame on you for doing this to this puppy.. but one day Karma will meet up with you.”
Norris said the dog was likely too afraid to leave the chair and disobey his owner so he just waited while starving.
“He was just too scared because it was a strange area,” she said to Today. “It’s a deserted road. On both sides, it was nothing but woods.”
“That poor baby; he’d been a good four or five days without food. I mean, he was skinny… I felt sick to my stomach.”
The rescued 4-month-old puppy was rescued and has been receiving love and proper care at a local veterinary clinic. La-Z-Boy Gatson, his new name, is expected to be placed for adoption soon!
Norris also updated concerned people on Facebook, adding: “UPDATE this puppy is no longer at the city shelter he’s been transported over to Brookhaven Animal Rescue League he is not up for adoption yet but they are taking applications.. but at this moment he is at the Veterinary Clinic getting a lot of TLC.”
La-Z-Boy Gatson was transferred to Brookhaven Animal Rescue League. Within two days, numerous families have expressed interest in taking him home to be their new family member.
