When you’re traveling around and visiting a different state, sometimes you come across laws that you are not familiar with.

These posts or tree painted in bright purple paint are one of those things that only certain states require as a law.

I have never seen these before, but I’m sure some of you have – especially if you’re living in states like Texas or North Carolina.

But, if you never really knew what this purple paint meant, now’s a good time to learn about it – since you might be arrested for not paying attention to these signs.

Various states have this purple paint law in order to signify “No Trespassing.”

If you’re wondering why these states require this seemingly odd law, it’s mainly because of two reasons: unpredictable weather, and the size of one’s territory.

In a world where climate change is increasingly becoming an important issue, weather patterns have become especially unpredictable for southern states. If they had installed “No Trespassing” signs, they could easily be broken or blown away because of the strong wind.

Therefore, landowners needed to come up with a different way to mark their territories.
Also, because of the vastness of their territory, it wasn’t possible for the owners to monitor the borders on a daily basis – it would’ve added extra work.

Therefore, states have allowed the homeowners to simply spray fence posts or trees with purple paint – letting others know that the land beyond these marks belong to them.

In addition, the purple mark also tells hunters to stay away from their properties.

What do you think of this law?

Do you think it’s a brilliant way to tell the others to turn away? Or do you think there should be signs along with the purple paint, since certain people may not know the existence of this law?
