The Queen has ‘banned’ Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, from borrowing and wearing several items from her Majesty’s private royal jewelry collection while Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is still allowed to wear them.

According to a palace insider, the Monarch holds a private royal jewelry collection of which pieces she loans to other royal family members at her discretion.

While Kate, who ranks higher on the hierarchy ladder than Meghan, is still allowed to borrow the Queen’s jewelry, her Majesty forbad Meghan to do so after she was left “unimpressed by Meghan’s demanding behavior” that came to light when she was getting ready to tie the knot with Prince Harry who said: “What Meghan wants Meghan gets.point 535 |

Consecutively, the Buckingham Palace implemented a stringent set of rules concerning Meghan in an attempt to “maintain order, hierarchy and precedence,” some of the primary concerns of the Royal Family.

May last year, the Duchess managed to get her hands on the diamond tiara that was left to the Queen by her grandmother. Later, in June, Meghan was also seen wearing pearl earrings that were gifted to her by the Queen for their first joint public engagement.

While the Sovereign holds the Royal Collection for the nation and the royal family’s successors, the Queen doesn’t own the collection on an individual level. However, she does have several items, including necklaces, tiaras, crowns, and earrings, in her private collection.

Speaking to The Sun, a royal insider revealed:

“It is true that Buckingham Palace did not want all the items in the Royal Collection to be opened up to Meghan at this time.

“Obviously Kate as the next Princess of Wales and a senior member of the family does have them made available to her.

“That’s not to say items won’t be loaned to Meghan in the future if situations change.”

Just last month, the Duchess was confronted by the Prince of Wales who told her not to wear a tiara on her trip overseas to avoid looking too “extravagant.”

“Meghan did not understand all of this because she was new to the role and so Prince Charles told her that it would not be appropriate,” the source said. “It was very kindly done.”
