In what is being termed as a historic move, a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain has been pulled from Oxford University’s Magdalen College’s Middle Common Room.

The decision comes as a move that was passed by the Magdalen College which gave the green signal after a large majority voted in favor of it. As far as the reason is concerned, the portrait was removed to instill a more welcoming aura while giving the place a neutral charm that would be fit for all of its members.

Moreover, one supportive student mentioned how patriotism, as well as colonialism, were not really separable, with many adding how the Queen was a symbol of recent colonial history and hence there was no room for her there.

The decision went on to spark a massive backlash from across the board as many hailed the Queen of Great Britain as the ‘pioneer of anti-racism.’

In the same way, the Education Secretary slammed the ‘unbelievably absurd’ decision where Oxford students were now adopting the means of cancel culture of the Queen too.

Meanwhile, the vice-chancellor of the university, Lord Patten, also gave his two cents on the ordeal. And that’s where he spoke about the decision being awfully offensive as well as obnoxiously ignorant too.

The committee has mentioned how it now plans on replacing the giant portrait with art or with another portrait of someone that is more influential as well as inspirational.
