While the cause of death hasn’t been disclosed, Vulcan must have been at least 13 years old as he was already seen by the Queen’s side back in 2007.

According to the sources, the death of the Dorgi presented a major blow for the monarch who is now left with just one loyal pet, Candy the dachshund-corgi.

“Her Majesty adores her dogs and it’s always a blow, particularly now,” a source reportedly said.

The Queen has long been known for her love of dogs whereas she previously owned dozens of Corgis. Willow, her Majesty’s last Corgi, was the descendant of Susan, a Corgi that Elizabeth received on her 18th birthday back in 1944.

Following Willow’s death in 2018 when the pooch was put down due to cancer, the Queen became the owner of two Dorgis who came to life after Princess Margaret’s dachshund mated with a dog belonging to the Queen.

The news of Vulcan’s passing follows shortly after Kate Middleton and Prince William revealed that their beloved family dog named Lupo died after being a part of their family for nine years.

Taking to social media to announce the sad news, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge revealed that the family will dearly miss the pooch that was with them for the past nine years.

“Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away. He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much. – W & C,” the Royals wrote as they shared a family photo with Lupo in it with their 12 million fans on Instagram.

Throughout the years, Lupo appeared in plenty of family photos, including one of Prince George’s first official pictures.

As it is believed, the couple was previously inspired by Lupo to name their son George. After the couple wrote a series of baby names on papers and laid them on the floor, Lupo was allegedly the one who chose for the little prince to be named George.

“For me, Catherine and now little George are my priorities, and Lupo,” Prince William said after welcoming George into his family back in 2013.

“He’s coping alright, as a lot of people know who’ve got dogs and bringing a newborn back, they take a little bit of time to adapt, but he’s been alright so far, he’s been slobbering around the house, so he’s perfectly happy.”

In a tribute to the 9-year-old pooch, James Middleton, Kate’s brother, expressed that “nothing can ever prepare you for the loss of a dog.”

“For those who have never had a dog, it might be hard to understand the loss. However for those who have loved a dog know the truth: a dog is not just a pet; it is a member of the family, a best friend, a loyal companion, a teacher and a therapist,” he wrote.

“Many people over the years have reached out to me about the pain of losing a dog and for most, the loss of a dog is, in almost every way comparable to the loss of a human loved one.”

Middleton went on to recall the time he had lost his first dog, Tilly, and the pain he has been going through ever since.

“Rest in peace Lupo. Tilly & Mini will be waiting for you. You will always be remembered and your legacy will live on forever. Good Boy,” he concluded.
