The Queen has invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join the Royal Family for the Platinum Jubilee festivities.
According to the Mail, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan plan to attend the Queen’s official birthday parade, Trooping the Colour, which will form part of the jubilee celebrations next summer.
However, questions remain on whether the Sussexes will appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the senior Royals for the Red Arrows flypast.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been invited and I’m sure the Queen is very much looking forward to seeing them there,” a source said.
“The balcony moment will be decided much nearer the time but there’s a limit to how many family members should be on it, and I would have thought that working Royals who contribute to the family would be higher on the list than the Sussexes.”
Royal Family members traditionally travel in horse-drawn carriages for Trooping the Colour before they appear on the balcony.
During the Diamond Jubilee, numbers were noticeably reduced, with the Queen joined only by Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and then single the Duke of Sussex. Prince Philip was not able to appear because he was ill.
However, Prince Andrew did not like the move and complained that Charles had cut him out of the celebrations.
Charles is thought likely to push for a reduced presence on the Palace balcony next year as he favors a ‘slimmed down’ monarchy.
A pageant of music, theatre, and street parties will take place across the country during the four days next June.
Beacons will be lit across Britain, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Overseas Territories, and in every capital city in the Commonwealth.
