A Royal expert suggested the Queen might be offended after Meghan and Harry chose to name their daughter after her.

On Sunday, the Montecito couple revealed they’ve welcomed a baby girl named Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor into their family.

Soon enough, critics blasted Meghan and Harry and suggested the couple was rude for naming their daughter after the Queen after blasting the Royal family and the British monarchy in an explosive Oprah interview.

For years, Queen Elizabeth II was known as Lilibet after she was given the nickname by her grandfather, King George V, who imitated her attempts to pronounce her name. She was also called Lilibet by her late husband Prince Philip who died earlier this year.

While many people suggested that Meghan and Harry were trying to mend the rift between them and the Royals with their choice of name, critics say it was rude of them to name their baby girl after the Queen after causing an uproar with their Oprah interview.

As Royal expert Angela Levin said during her appearance on Good Morning Britain, the Queen might feel very offended by the “demeaning” couple.

“Not after what’s happened, I think she’s desperately unhappy because they were desperately rude about her. I don’t think it’s a good idea. I think it’s quite rude to her Majesty the Queen,” Levin said.

Explaining her reasoning, the Royal expert added: “It was a very private nickname from her husband who hasn’t been dead for very long. Prince Charles would never dream of referring to his mother as Lilibet. He’s never used it – it was a special name, especially for the Duke of Edinburgh.”

Not everyone, however, agreed with what Levin had to say about the new Royal’s name. Responding to Levin, Journalist Afua Adom suggested Meghan and Harry’s name choice was “a nod of affection.”

“To say the Queen would be unhappy is frankly ridiculous. It’s a bit of a nod to Meghan’s mother Doria as well, her nickname for Meghan is flower,” Adom argued.

“It’s also a bit of a stretch to say that the Queen is fuming that her great grandchild is named after her. I think it’s a nod of affection.”
