The Queen scolded the Duke of Sussex for using offensive language during a row with her closest aide before his wedding, reports reveal.
Prince Harry was reprimanded for his ‘rude language’ after Her Majesty’s closest aide Angela Kelly could not meet Meghan Markle’s sudden demands because of a royal protocol.
According to reports, the former actress wanted to go to Buckingham Palace to try on the ornamental crown chosen by her and her fiancé.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Finding Freedom biography accuses the Queen’s adviser of ‘deliberately dragging her feet’ when Meghan asked to have access to the tiara before the 2018 Royal wedding.
Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand said Prince Harry felt some of the ‘old guard’ at the Palace ‘simply didn’t like Meghan and would stop at nothing to make her life difficult.’
However, a Mail source provided a different version of events.
In 2020, the source said that the book’s version of events was not how everyone remembered it.
“Angela essentially said, ‘I’m very sorry, that’s not how it works.’ There’s protocol in place over these jewels.
“They’re kept under very tight lock and key. You can’t turn up and demand to have the tiara just because your hairdresser happens to be in town.”
The source claimed Harry responded with offensive language.
The veteran adviser immediately alerted HM, prompting the Queen to call her grandson for a private meeting.
“He was put firmly in his place. He had been downright rude,” the royal source said.
Ms. Kelly’s title is personal assistant, adviser, and curator (wardrobe, insignias, and jewelry). Behind closed doors, she is a friend and almost like a sister to the Queen.
