Queen Elizabeth has finally responded to the news that Prince Harry and Megan Markle want to distance themselves from their royal family roles.
The statement from the Queen’s office of Buckingham about the soul-crushing split was issued.
“Discussions with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage,” the 93-year-old monarch stated. “We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through.”
Though the discussions which are taking place haven’t been exposed, it’s reported that the prince’s decision was something absolutely unexpected and surprising for the royal family.
As pointed out by a statement given by a royal source, “there is a lot of hurt about this.”
Besides reframing their roles as royals, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are also planning to find ways that can help them eliminate their financial dependency on the Crown.
Moreover, they are also thinking about moving to North America to spend their time elsewhere whenever they go out of England.
The couple posted on Instagram: “We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honor our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.
“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.
“We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.”
It all started when the couple got involved in several conflicts and disagreements regarding press and family relations. According to some close friends of the couple, Harry and Meghan were experiencing feelings of isolation from other members of the royal family.
The tensions seemed to have risen from the previous few weeks as Harry and his wife spent their holidays by vacationing on Vancouver Island in Canada with their little son Archie Harrison.
They didn’t even celebrate recent Christmas with the royals in 2019.
“Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland,” a statement released by Buckingham Palace said at the time.
“This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”
