Group chats are increasingly becoming a good way of interaction among people who have anything in common.
We all have group chats with our families, friends, and colleagues.
However, they have some downsides as well.
For instance, people use them to spam unrelated messages. Or sometimes a couple could get unnecessarily weird in the chat, making it uncomfortable for other members.
Or sometimes, a totally irrelevant person could be added to the group, just like in this story.
Zachary and Sierra Garratt were pregnant with their third child when they decided to make a group chat to share their precious moments with their closest family members.
Zach added his grandma, who has the nickname Meemaw, to the group. And Meemaw accidentally added Bobby to the group chat.
Bobby is not related to the family in any way, the reason he was added; he had the same phone number as Zach had before he started at the air force.
Bobby was astonished when he received a few texts in the group and it was soon revealed to him that he did not belong in the group at all.
This was the time for Bobby to decide. He could either remain in the group silently and keep peeking into the family’s internal affairs or he could tell the family of his presence and introduce himself to them formally.
Bobby opted for the latter option, and also sent some money to Zach’s cashapp as a gift.
Zach went on to share the screenshots of Bobby’s messages in the group to his Facebook account where they soon went viral, getting more than 43,000 shares.
Everyone seemed to love the adorable exchange of messages between Bobby and the family.
“All of us were amazed how much everyone enjoyed the story,” Zach told Romper.
“We’ve gotten so many comments from people congratulating us on little Layla. And thanking Bobby for being such a good person! I saw a lot of people say it gave them faith in humanity.”
After the incident went viral, a number of random strangers started donating funds to Zach’s cashapp.
“People have sent money,” Zach’s wife Sierra said. “Whatever extra donations we’ve gotten, we’re giving back to Bobby and his family. We didn’t expect it to get big.”
Zach and Bobby have also planned to meet each other when Zach comes home for Thanksgiving.
