New York rapper Frederick Thomas, also known as Fred The Godson, died from COVID-19 shortly after asking his supporters to pray for him according to the reports.
The 35-year-old ‘Retaliation’ hitmaker from South Bronx was taken to the hospital after contracting the deadly novel coronavirus.
On top of the infection, the rapper had also been battling kidney problems and asthma, a condition that CDC believes to contribute to the severity of COVID-19.
In his last post to his fans on Instagram, Fred wrote: “I’m in here wit[h] this Corvus 19 sh**! Please keep me in y’all prayers!!!! #godisgreat.”
Unfortunately, the 35-year-old succumbed to the infection and passed away, the news confirmed by his close friends and TMZ.
“[He] Was loved by many never heard one bad thing about you RIP @fredthegodsonmusic Sleep Well my brother,” DJ Self wrote on Instagram as he announced Fred’s passing according to Power1051.
Fred The Godson is survived by his wife, LeAnn Jemmott, and their two children.
Previously, on April 10, Jemmott announced that her husband “is fighting and he is winning.”
“He is fighting and he is winning. He has no sign of infection. His heart is strong and working well. His kidneys have been affected, but as of today, he has started dialysis to clean the toxins out of his blood. Fred is going to make it. God is good!” she expressed.
After the young man’s tragic death, dozens of fans and artists paid a tribute to the Doves Fly hitmaker.
“His wordplay was INCREDIBLE. He was easily one of the most dangerous MC’s around. Lately he was battling this horrible virus. Today he lost the fight,” DJ Clark Kent noted.
“My little brother ooooh how sad am I, I prayed and prayed and prayed for you all night long. So many dreams so many conversations so many great times we had. I am in shock to say the least I love you soooooooo much little brother it’s been years since I felt this pain,” Fat Joe expressed.
