Rare Albino Twins With Hair Whiter Than Snow Quickly Become An Overnight Sensation


In the United States, the chance of a child being born with albinism is one in 17,000, so having albino twins is almost a miracle! Just imagine how shocked the parents would’ve been.

This couple knew they were expecting twins, but they didn’t know their babies would be two Snow White princesses.

Albino twins Catalina and Virginia were born in Tucuman Province, Argentina. These adorable babies quickly became an overnight sensation as they were the first set of albino twins in the country!

The babies were prematurely born at 36 weeks and took not only the parents but also the hospital staff by surprise.

Catalina weighed 5.95 pounds when she was born. Two minutes later, Virginia was born weighing 5.5 pounds.

Jorge Gomez, the father of the twins, told LV12: “When they gave us the news that we would have two babies, it gave us a lot of happiness and when they were born and we saw that they were albinos, that happiness did not change at all.”

He also added: “For us, it is a blessing.”

Albinism is a rare pigment disorder where there is little or no production of melanin. The amount and type of melanin the body produces determine the color of your skin, eyes, and hair.

It also plays a role in the development of optic nerves, that’s why individuals with albinism have vision problems.

According to the National Organization of Albinism and Hypopigmentation, 1 in 17,000 in the US has albinism. But the chances of having albino twins are very slim.
