A Real Life Version Of Monopoly With Jail Will Launch This Year

A real-life version of Monopoly is being launched later this year.

The version, which is said to be ‘fully immersive,’ will bring almost all the key elements of the board game to life and will make the hit board game as real as possible.

Players will be walking through a set containing themed rooms at the Monopoly Dreams theme park in Hong Kong.

Holograms and interactive technology will be used to create Chance cards, Title Deeds, Train Station, Electric Company, Water Works, and, of course, the Bank.

And as you’ve expected, there is also a jail cell where you or other players can land themselves in.

The version doesn’t have areas named Bond Street, Mayfair, and Trafalgar Square as in the original version. Instead, the locations are taken from Monopoly’s Hong Kong version.

The Peak is the most expensive location in the game and it’s also where the theme park is located.

Besides the usual fun the board game offers, the real-life version will feature some murder or mystery styled subplot, in which a villain will steal diamonds from Mr Monopoly’s residence and players will have to solve the mystery.

Casey Collins, who is General Manager of Entertainment and Licensing at Hasbro – the company which owns the board game – said the Monopoly Dreams theme park will be ‘wonderfully memorable’ for visitors.
