The farmers are planting flowers strips to make sure that the pests are under control; nothing is ruined on their farms.
The chemicals can cause damage to the crops so to reduce that and balance the ecological intensification of the agriculture, and flower strips are a natural remedy to tackle the pests.
The flowers will naturally keep the crops protected, and it will also help the farmers to avoid the use of any other products to protect the plants.
Organic treatments are always the best way to keep natural resources protected as chemical use can damage some things. It is also the right way of letting the natural pests live as it will keep the plants healthy and damage-free.
The older methods of farming are a way to promote biodiversity and also keep the pests under control.
The strips of the flowers are planted around and in the middle of the field to keep the rest of the area protected and under control. It is also essential to have the right flowers planted in the strip to keep the balance on the farm.
In Switzerland, the farmers planted cilantro, dill, and poppies around the farmers to test the new organic method. The best seven plants which the farmers can plant in the strip are lavender, citronella, rosemary, basil, petunias, marigolds, and chrysanthemum.
Though the chemical treatment will not completely be eliminated, but at least, the usage level will be reduced. The farmers are bringing in the old traditions to protect the fields and natural biodiversity, which is beneficial for farming.
Till now, it has not been proved if this method is entirely adequate, but it is useful for sure.
