Plastic waste is the biggest challenge the world is facing right now.
We as the citizen of this planet, each one of us, should understand our role and find even the tiniest way we can to do whatever we can to reduce this waste.
Shelby Tillema is a senior at Lakewood High School and just like any other high school senior, she was invested in her education as well as the co-curricular activities that go on in the school.
For the same, she wanted to be a part of a club but she did not find the club she wanted so she started her own. She started a club where they would use plastic waste to create things out of it and then donate it to the needy and the homeless.
She opened the club and some other students joined in too. They were doing a great deed for both society and the environment.
They eliminated the plastic waste from the environment and put it to far better use.
They made several things and one of them was blankets. Yes, they made Plarn blankets and then donated them away so that the ones who need blankets in this extremely cold weather can have one. It was a great idea and they had a great reason behind it too.
They are not the only ones doing this great job. There are several groups around the world who are working every day to eliminate plastic waste from our world.
Some are cleaning beaches; some divers are cleaning the insides of the oceans because the plastic waste has reached some to some of the depths of the ocean.
It is the time of emergency and we all need to work together on this. We need to take initiative and it will help our world in surviving.
