The remains of a young boy have been found inside a crocodile six days after the reptile snatched him off a riverbank.
14-year-old Ricky Ganya was searching for snails near a river in Rumah Dadat, Malaysia when the crocodile attacked him.
Rescue teams managed to catch the 15ft-long crocodile two miles from the area where the child was reported missing.
Ricky’s family filed a missing report on July 26 but his aunt said she saw the crocodile snatching him off the river bank.
The reptile was then captured and cut open in front of the police and the boy’s family to get evidence.
According to an officer from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations, ‘several parts of a human body’ and clothing were found inside the crocodile.
The remains were removed from the predator’s stomach and were taken home by the family.
One internet user commented: “Very sad. RIP Ricky. But I have to also say RIP to the croc. It was just doing what was needed to survive, as they have been doing for millions of years. There was nothing personal or evil in its actions.”
Another wrote: “that is just awful, how can parents ever come to terms with that RIP young man x.”
A third added: “Tragic for the boy and equally tragic for the animal.”
Someone else said: “What a horrible way to die, RIP young man!”
