Human remains have reportedly been found very near Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s multi-million mansion.
On May 24, the authorities discovered a series of bones on a road located just yards away from Meghan and Harry’s $14.7 million home in Montecito, California, where they moved after leaving their lives as royals behind.
Following the discovery, the sheriff’s office activated a forensic anthropologist who is set to investigate the bones and their origins.
As per the early reports, the bones appear to have belonged to a young adult. Due to the old age of the remains, it is possible that the bones belonged to a Native American and could be several centuries old.
After the conclusion that the remains could be that of the Chumash people, the original inhabitants of the coastal regions in southern California, the excavation at the site has been paused pending the results of the anthropologist’s investigation.
Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office reassured the public that they are in constant communication with the Native American commission in the area.
“Until we have an official opinion from the forensic anthropologist we’re not going to be saying one way or the other,” the spokesperson said after it was suggested that the remains could belong to one of the Chumash people.
Though the discovery was made just yards from Meghan and Harry’s home, however, the authorities were able to confirm that the bones have nothing to do with the couple.
The natives in the area are said to have first made contact with European settlers back in 1542, whereas the Spaniards settled in the region in the late 18th century. As of today, the Chumash people have a population of about 5,000 members.
