Two years after the passing away from Brenda Schmitz, an anonymous letter was received by a local radio station.
They immediately called Brenda’s husband, David Schmitz to tune into their station. When he heard the contents of the letter, he was deeply moved and couldn’t control his tears.
A radio station in Des Moines, Iowa known as KSTZ has a tradition of granting X-max wishes for its listeners for the past 2 decades. This time, they did something unusual. They granted a wish from a listener who had something to say to Brenda’s husband. It was so personal and touching that they had no choice but to call him to the station and personally receive it.
David stated that the radio station had called him to receive a letter and that someone wanted to grant him a wish. When David inquired about the letter, the radio station refused to make any further comments and asked him to come to the station personally.
The truth was that before Brenda gave up to ovarian cancer, she had written a letter making her Christmas wish. She had asked one of her friends to send the letter to a radio station after his husband remarried and found someone to take care of their 4 children.
After Jayne Abraham agreed to marry David, the radio station received the letter. The contents of the letter were as follows.
In the letter, Brenda highlighted the reason for the letter. It was a wish that she had for David and her children, and also the woman whom David had married. She expressed her love for the entire family. She had 3 of them actually.
The first one was to treat Jayne with a spa day. She deserved it according to Brenda. She expressed that being a step-mother to her children especially Max was a huge job. Providing a mother’s love isn’t easy. Brenda wanted Jayne to smile and be known that her efforts were appreciated.
The second wish was to take the whole family on a magical trip so that they could have memories that remained in their minds forever.
The last wish was for the nurses and doctors who took care of Brenda while she was at the Mercy Medical Center. Brenda wanted them to have a night out filled with food, drinks, and fun to reward them for their efforts in assisting cancer patients.
David couldn’t control his tears when he read the letter. He was surprised but not completely. He knew that Brenda was thoughtful. Before Brenda had passed away, she had asked David to meet someone who could take care of the boys. She said that she would know when he met the right woman.
For Jayne, what mattered the most was the fact that Brenda loved her. The radio station successfully granted all 3 wishes and the family had a fun-filled trip to Disney World in Florida. Jayne would also get a spa day there.
Jayne said that it would be the first time that their family would be taking a vacation and it would be a good opportunity to bond with them. This trip would give them the time to sit back and relax and spend some quality time with each other.
