As the saying goes, life is a cycle with all its ups and downs.
But some cycles just seem to be going on and on, especially the bad ones. When those negative cycles happen, it’s easy to become frustrated and confused. While those would be good times to reflect on whether or not a particularly bad run is merely a consequence of one’s actions, there really are some times when these events or feelings just come at us from out of the blue.
In that case, negative energies may simply be causing havoc in the home. Fortunately, people even from ancient times have found simple ways to cleanse the home and now you can, too!
1 – Perk up with essential oils
Lavender, patchouli, and frankincense essential oils are known for their purifying properties, therefore they are one of the simplest yet most effective ways of getting rid of negative energy. What’s even more, their scent also serves to perk up your mood when you’re feeling down.
2 – Introduce more plants in the home
This is not just more environmentally friendly as the plants help clear up the air with the oxygen they produce, the fact that they are living things means they also emit an aura that helps create a vibrant space where negative energies simply can’t last long.
3 – Sprinkle some salt on your carpet
This may sound a bit weird since you’re not going to eat your carpet but salt has the property of dissolving or disintegrating negative energy. Simply sprinkle some dry table salt on the carpet, let it sit for around one hour, then vacuum it away and take satisfaction that you’re also sucking out any pent-up negative energy that may have worked its way into your carpet!
4 – Burn incense
Used time and again throughout the ages, burning sacred herbs, also called smudging, is one tried-and-true practice. Burn some sage to dispel negative energy and/or follow up with white sage to clear up the air.
5 – Clear out all the clutter in the house
There is a belief in feng shui (the Chinese art of geomancy that seeks to achieve harmony with one’s environment) that too much clutter prevents positive energy from entering and keeps negative energy in.
It makes a certain sort of sense since, by analogy, if you put a lot of debris inside a water pipe, water can’t flow freely and there may be pools of stagnant water that can remain. In the same way, get rid of any old stuff you may not need in the home and feel the air clear up, literally and figuratively!
6 – Meditation
Sometimes all that negative clings to your aura and there’s no better way to clear them out than true meditation. Not only will it clear your mind and emotions, but meditation also strengthens your aura so that you protect yourself better from negative influence and repel them from your surroundings to a certain extent.
