He was a pop singer back in Montréal but as he met Céline, he had faith in her talent. For her first record, he even mortgaged his home.
Due to her amazing voice and René’s full support, Céline became one of the most popular musicians around the world.
Céline’s 12th studio album, The Colour of My Love has the dedication section for René. She expressed her love for René in songs and in December 1994, they got married.
It was sensational all over the world to broadcast the wedding ceremony on Canadian TV.
Their wedding was one of the major moments in pop culture history.
The couple was not separable. They always stayed together ever since the wedding.
Especially during the time when René suffered from cancer for about 20 years, Céline was always there for him.
Céline revealed the heartbreaking status of René in September 2015; his cancer was terminal.
On January 14, 2016, René passed away at his home in Las Vegas. Since then, Céline has been singing for the patients and their family.
