Differences in beliefs and cultures is a basic thing in our world but is it seriously so wrong to have a different belief than the masses that a person has to fear for their safety?
Students are young minds who should be allowed to have freedom for developing their own beliefs, the one they can live with, without the fear of the world but it looks like this is not what is happening in the campuses of education around the country of United States.
A survey found out that college campuses are not a very safe place for Republican students, or at least that is how they feel.
About 1,500 plus students from almost 207 different schooling organizations participated in the survey which was conducted by an education platform online called OneClass.
Out of the mass number of students asked, a huge amount of 38% of students said that they at times feel that they are unsafe when they are on the campus because they had different political views.
Less than 50% of the Republican students agreed to the question that they felt welcome on the campus among their mates.
OneClass’ Jerry Zheng, before speaking about the attack on the conservative Hayden Williams spoke: “Republicans feels 3 times unsafer than Democrats in the campus for keeping their own political views.”
Continuing about the attack in UC-Berkeley that happened last month, he said “The incident that happened at UC-Berkeley is not unheard. The news of conservatives getting attacked for them holding their political views in the college campus makes the conservatives think twice that they should even exercise their freedom of speech or not”
Talking about how the majority of Republicans hide their beliefs from their friends he said “The fright of feeling excluded and being cast with damning labels is really genuine for conservatives in the campus.
This is also why 55.
1% Republicans are closet conservatives and they do not share their political orientation even with their close friends. And for the Democrats, sharing their views in the college could be what actually contributes to the feeling of being accepted.
