A dog that was abandoned at a kill shelter has been chosen by Disney to feature as Tramp in the new live-action remake of ‘Lady and the Tramp’.
Thanks to the casting, the shelter dog will now live the life of a movie star.
In 2018, Disney announced that it was working on a live-action remake of the 1955 classic animation. But the catch was that instead of having an audition for the role, they decided to cast a shelter dog for the role of one of the main characters, Tramp. That was when they found Monte.
Monte was in a kill shelter in New Mexico since his early days, unfortunately, he was never adopted and his time was nearly up. But before he was about to be euthanized he was saved by an animal rescue foundation called HALO Animal Rescue.
After being rescued he spent his time in a new shelter, here he was discovered by a professional trainer who was seeking out shelter dogs to play the role of Tramp in Disney’s movie. Not only did the trainer choose Monte but he also adopted and trained him for the role of Tramp.
Justin Theroux, who voices Tramp in the movie, is in love with Monte and shared Monte’s story on his Instagram account so that the whole world can know of Monte’s inspiring story and urged others to adopt pets instead of buying them.
Monte’s story spread fast and received a lot of attention on the internet and people are in love with Monte. Justin Theroux also shared that Disney used a lot of other rescue dogs besides Monte in the making of the movie so that they could urge people to rescue animals from kill shelters instead of buying them in shops.
Their efforts were not in vain as thousands of people have supported Disney’s thoughts and promoted the adoption of animals in need. This is very important because there more than 1.5 million animals are euthanized globally while waiting in shelters and they do not deserve the terrible fate they are put to.
Monte got the happiness that he deserves, but there many other animals out there that are waiting in kill shelters to get a new home and their time is running out. So if you are planning to get a pet why not rescue one from a shelter? They really deserve love and a new family!
