Food challenges are fun to those who love to eat but not everyone is able to finish a large plate of meal.
The Smoke Pitt restaurant in Northampton is challenging people to gobble the world’s biggest plate of nachos served in a super-sized bowl.
The dish is full of calories and no one has been able to finish off the Mexican feast. The huge plate of nachos includes 1kg of tortilla crisps, 3kg of brisket beef, 1kg of cheddar cheese, 500g of sour cream, salsa and guacamole.
Anyone who empties their plate in 60 minutes or under will save themselves £40($46) and also get a free dessert.
One contestant named Lily Cuthberton, 22, from Northampton, failed to get through even a quarter of the meal.
She said: “I knew it was big but I didn’t think it would be that big – I instantly knew it was going to be mission impossible, but I love nachos so gave it a go.”
“After 35 minutes I had to stop because I was stuffed, my stomach couldn’t handle anymore, and the dish of nachos were never-ending.”
“I didn’t even want to look at the dish after I had finished and the thought of eating again knocked me sick.”
“The night before the challenge I tried to prepare myself by stuffing my face with about ten crackers with cheese in a bid to stretch my stomach.”
“It clearly didn’t work as I barely made a dent in the nachos.”
“I love nachos, but I don’t think I will be able to eat them for a while now.”
The place is a total of 15,434 calories.
Lily said: “I was shocked when I found out how many calories it is, that is enough to put me off trying it again. I would advise anyone who is thinking about taking on the challenge to avoid eating for three weeks prior, so you are hungry enough to clean the plate.”
