A restaurant in the US has been shut down after a woman found a dead baby rodent in her takeaway noodles.
The disgusted customer shared a video on Facebook. Using a plastic fork, Deyanira Cortes lifted the little animal up from her noodles, revealing the rat’s legs, tail, and head.
Health inspectors immediately investigated the restaurant – Yihi Japan in Columbus, Ohio, and shut it down after finding cockroaches, flies, and sewage backing up through floor drains.
Cortes shared the video of her takeaway with the caption: “Please do not buy food in Yihi Japan that is inside Polaris mall.
“I bought a Teriyaki Chicken and I got a baby rat cooked with the food.
“It’s disgusting. Please share so that no one buys food there, and prevent someone from getting sick.”
The video has been watched over one million times, with some people advising her to seek legal advice. Some people made comments like: “They didn’t charge more for the extra protein? I need some of this in my life!!”
Another wrote: “I don’t understand. Was it not cooked? Did they charge extra for it?”
A third said: “Is there carbs or gluten in those rats?”
Washington Prime Group said it was considering not renewing the restaurant’s lease. “We are working closely with the Columbus Public Health Department as they investigate this incident. Washington Prime Group, the owner of Polaris Fashion Place, is currently evaluating the option of not renewing a lease with this tenant,” a spokesperson said.
