Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have once again proved they have hearts of gold as they pledged $1 million to food banks to make sure people don’t go hungry during the coronavirus pandemic.
As the couple revealed, the money will be divided between Food Banks Canada and Feeding America, two organizations working to feed the hungry.
“Covid-19 has brutally impacted older adults and low income families. Blake and I are donating $1 million to be split between Feeding America and Food Banks Canada,” Mr. Reynolds wrote in his Instagram post.
“If you can give, these orgs need our help. Take care of your bodies and hearts. Leave room for joy. Call someone who’s isolated and might need connection.”
After the post went viral and received millions of views, fans applauded the Hollywood stars for helping people in the middle of a crisis.
Another renowned celebrity who recently announced she’d be donating 20% of the profit from her company sales to food banks was Lady Gaga.
Several other celebrities have also shown their support by encouraging their fans to self-isolate and temporarily social distance amid coronavirus outbreak.
One of the stars taking to social media to raise awareness about the pandemic is Taylor Swift who suggested that “things aren’t being taken seriously enough right now.”
“I follow you online and I love you guys so much and need to express my concern that things aren’t being taken seriously enough right now,” the Grammy winner wrote.
“I’m seeing lots of get together and hangs and parties still happening.point 224 |
This is the time to cancel plans, actually truly isolate as much as you can, and don’t assume that because you don’t feel sick that you aren’t possibly passing something on to someone elderly or vulnerable to this.point 195 | ”point 198 | 1
According to Swift, we should all be willing to make some “sacrifices” to prevent coronavirus from spreading beyond control.
Meanwhile, Ariana Grande slammed people who say stuff like “this isn’t a big deal” and “we still have to go about our lives” and said:
“I understand that is how [you] felt weeks ago, but please read about what’s going on. Don’t turn a blind eye. It is incredibly dangerous and selfish to take this situation that lightly.
“The ‘we will be fine because we’re young’ mindset is putting people who aren’t young and/or healthy in a lot of danger. You sound stupid and privileged and you need to care more about others. Like now.”
