Aside from entertaining us, riddles can also improve our critical thinking skills and may even help us become more creative.
Below are five riddles that many people fail to solve. Are you ready to be challenged?
“A woman jumps from her plane without a parachute. She falls on the landing track, but she doesn’t suffer any injuries. Why?”
How is it possible that she was left without any injuries?
Here is the answer: The plane was still on the ground.
“Peter, Sally, John, and Mary are in a room and next to a corpse. Peter, Sally, and Mary tell the detective they didn’t kill that person, but the detective doesn’t believe them. Only John, who didn’t answer any questions, is free to go. Why?”
What’s going on here? How come Peter, Sally, and Mary were not free to go?
Here is the answer: John is the detective.
“Andy, Paul, Henry, Mary, Uma, and Charles eat a tiny amount of cockroach poison. Andy Paul, Henry, and Uma die, but Charles, who’s 40 years older than the rest, doesn’t. Why?”
Does Charles have some kind of superpowers? What do you think is the reason?
Here is the answer: Andy, Paul, Henry, Mary, and Uma are cockroaches. Charles is a human.
“There are 6 oranges in a basket. 6 people split them so that everyone ends up with an orange. Then why is there still an orange in the basket?”
If all six people took an orange, how come there is still one fruit left in the basket?
Here is the answer: The first five people took an orange from the basket and the last person also took the basket.
“You must puncture a balloon with a knife. If a balloon loses any air or explodes, you lose. How can you accomplish this?”
Is there a way to prevent the balloon from exploding or losing any air?
Here is the answer: Pick a deflated balloon.
