With a plank aluminum body and flashing safety lights, the amazing four-wheel-drive toy truck was even large enough for Darren’s nephew to ride and drive.

It all started when Darren posted a picture on Facebook that showed the truck he had given to his nephew as a Christmas present. He was floored when he was deluged with hundreds of comments, many of them from people asking if he could build one for them as well.

“I made one of these battery ride-on lorries for Christmas for my nephew thinking it would be a one-off,” said self-employed dad-of-three Darren.

“I put a picture on Facebook and now it’s like the whole country wants one! I might pack my full-time job in and try to set up myself as a business but at the moment I’m enjoying my hobby.”

Once the picture was up on Facebook, it went viral and other parents wanted one for their children, too.

There were comments like: “OMG can you imagine the look on their little faces!”

Another said: “The girls would love these.”

One mom posted: “This is amazing, he could be just like this dad!”

Due to the popular reception of his toy, Darren ordered the materials required to make more of the toy trucks.

The trucks are made-to-order and Darren needs about 2 weeks to finish them. You can order them in red, black, blue, or white.

He explained: “I make these to order, about two weeks waiting time, £690($900) for the 24-volt battery-operated 4wd lorry with plank aluminum body and flashing safety lights as pictured, red, black, blue or white, £570($750) without the lights.

“If you already have the lorry I can fit the body for £250($300) plus £120($150) for the flashing safety lights.”

He also wanted to make the toys more affordable to people so he sells tickets and raffles off the toy trucks. One ticket costs £15($20) while £25($30) gets you two tickets. The raffle is actually turning out to be more popular.

Within days of announcing the raffle on Facebook, all the tickets were sold out. People were even clamoring for four tickets on the next raffle.

The finished product needs to be picked up from Walsall as Darren is unable to deliver them.

He added: “I wanted to say thanks for all the likes and shares and all the interest, I appreciate it.”
