Actor Robert De Niro has once again publicly lashed out at the current POTUS and compared Donald Trump’s America to an “abusive household.
”
During his appearance on CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the 76-year-old The Irishman producer said:
“To me, it’s more than heartbreaking, it’s a really, really serious situation we’re in. I don’t want to bring people down but … it’s a serious situation.
“It’s like living in an abusive household. You don’t know what’s going to happen next, what crazy thing is going to happen next, what’s going to make you say, ‘What the hell is going on?’”
Among other insults, De Niro has called Trump a “fake president” and a “gangster.”
“Well, he calls everything ‘fake’ because he knows he’s fake. So he’s projecting all the time. Somewhere deep down, I don’t wanna get all psychological, but that really is what I feel it is,” the 76-year-old added before his statement was greeted by an applause from the audience.
Besides bashing the president, De Niro has also admitted that he likes plenty of Democratic candidates and shared his admiration for billionaire Michael Bloomberg and Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
Speaking of media mogul Mr. Bloomberg, De Niro said he likes him because “he’s a grown-up,” a reference that appeared to be another strike at Trump.
“I know him a little, yes. I like Bloomberg, he’s an adult, he’s a grown-up,” he said.
“He’s run the city for 12 years. I know there are things he did, you mentioned them on the show, but he’s done good things and he tries to do the right thing.”
In another recent interview with GQ, De Niro has also made a sharp comment towards the POTUS by saying:
“He’s beyond a horrible person. I went on television the day after he was elected and I said, I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
“But he’s worse than we ever thought he would be. He’s an idiot. He’s a fool. He’s a buffoon. He’s silly. He’s tacky. He’s dangerous.”
