In 2014 when Robin Williams, American stand-up comedian and an Academy Award-winning actor, committed suicide, no one could believe the news of the death of their favorite actor.
Fans everywhere mourned his death, and everyone thought the reason for the suicide would be depression.
It has been three years since he committed suicide and his wife Susan Schneider Williams decided to reveal the actual reason for his tragic death. In an exclusive interview with ABC news which is her first interview after the death of her husband, Susan revealed what killed her husband.
Susan revealed in the interview that Robin Williams had been struggling with a debilitating brain disease for years and he was given three years to live by the Doctors which had been the toughest years of her life.
She said: “It was not depression that killed Robin. It was actually Lewy Body Dementia. Depression was one of let’s call it 50 symptoms, and it was a small one.”
“If Robin were lucky, he would’ve had maybe three years left. And they would’ve been hard years. And it’s a good chance he would have been locked up.”
Susan also revealed that before his death, Robin had been paranoid and anxious. Recounting the last conversation she had with Robin, Susan said that he approached her when she was in bed reading and asked if she wanted a foot massage.
‘And I said, ‘It’s OK, honey. Not…you know, it’s OK. You don’t have to tonight.’ And I’ll never forget the look in his eyes of just, sad because he wanted to. And I wished…you know?’
‘Then he came back in the room a couple of times. Once to his closet. And he said…and then he laughed. And he said, ‘Goodnight, my love.’ And I said, ‘Goodnight, my love.’’, told Susan controlling her tears.
Talking about her marriage, Susan said it was just like a “Dream.” She said, “It’s the best love I ever dreamed of. You know, it’s what I always dreamed of love would be, as just really based on, just honor, love, respect.”
