Rod Stewart has recently revealed that he has been fighting a secret battle with prostate cancer.
However, he mentioned that he is now in the clear, thankfully.
The seventy-four-year-old rocker talked about the news on Saturday in a fundraising event, where he told the crowd that he was diagnosed with the illness two years ago. Rod was talking at an event for the Prostate Project and European Tour Foundation in Surrey.
He explained how was in remission since July after he managed to catch the disease early.
He joked to Penny Lancaster, his wife, that he should use the event to come out, which prompted her to urge him to come out of the closet on that particular night.
Rod added that it is not what he audience thinks and told the crowd about his prostate cancer diagnosis two years back.
He added that nobody knew this but he though that it was time he told everybody. He noted that he is in the clear because of early diagnosis and several tests.
He used the event as an opportunity to motivate men to get their prostates checked. He announced that the men should go to the doctor and remarked that finger up the bum would not cause any harm.
He was also comforted by Ronnie Wood who is a former Faces bandmate and who himself has battled lung cancer. Rod said that if a person is positive and works through it, and keeps a smile on their face, he has worked for two years and he has been happy.
He further said that the good Lord was looking after him. The seventy-two-year-old Wood said that someone up there likes both of them.
In the U.K., the most common cancer in men is prostrate cancer. It develops slowly and might not show any signs for years.
