There are many stories shared online about how people had fortunate escapes when things go terribly wrong.
One grandma just experienced that kind of lucky moment when a swan suddenly came crashing through her bathroom window.
Fortunately for the elderly woman, she had moved out of the way when the sizeable bird made the loud impact only a few seconds later.
Shards of glass flew all around the bathroom and if the grandmother had been close enough, she could get serious injuries.
There is nothing to fret about the magnificent creature as it wasn’t killed but the poor animal was injured, so it was rushed to the RSPCA where it received treatment for its injuries.
“The lady was so lucky when this happened as she had just been in the bathroom,” said Keith Ellis from the animal charity.
“Had she still been there when this swan crashed through the window I am sure the glass shattering and the impact of the bird hitting her would have caused serious injury, or even worse.
“I think the swan was looking and flying to the nearby River Trent and must have misjudged the direction. It was also quite windy at the time which may have blown her off course.”
Ellis added: “I have been an RSPCA inspector for 40 years and have never seen a swan crash through a window.
“I have seen them crash-land onto busy roads thinking they are rivers – but nothing like this – it is so bizarre.”
The beautiful swan will receive further treatment for her wounds and hopefully, she’ll completely recover and return to her home.
