In fact, it’s a multi-billion dollar industry that spans the gamut of video games, movies, TV shows, theater, and other performance arts that people enjoy.

But the concept of entertainment itself is not a modern one because even as far back as we can catalog, humans have been enjoying games of dice, running, or listening to bards tell tall tales of adventure.
The important takeaway is that these seeming distractions are an important part of giving meaning to our lives. We’re not mere machines that eat, sleep, and work in an endless cycle until we pass from this world. We need something more to give meaning to our lives than merely existing and surviving.
As any pet owner knows, even animals also need some sort of entertainment in their lives. And that’s really remarkable for creatures that are mostly driven by instinct and the need to survive.
A few tourists were greeted with the sight of a Bonobo ape in Twycross Zoo in England having the time of his life as he was sliding down the slope of a hill. It looked so much fun that his siblings even played along after a while!
Bonobos are also called pygmy chimpanzees or dwarf or gracile chimpanzees. They are one of two species under the genus Pan with the other one being the common chimpanzee. Bonobos are actually the closest living relatives to humans, with about 98% of their DNA in common with ours.
Which is why it’s sad that they are classified as Endangered on the IUCN Red List, another casualty of habitat destruction and uncontrolled human population growth. In Great Britain, Twycross Zoo is the only zoo that breeds Bonobos.
Bonobos are also known as ‘love’ animals because they are populist and give importance to harmony. Bonobos are identified as having a matriarchal society with many social activities being female-focused and female-commanded. However, this doesn’t mean that males are excluded from social interactions.
At heart, they have playful souls with caring personalities and all those qualities are in evidence with the Bonobo having the time of his life on his impromptu slide.
