Dogs are absolutely amazing at helping us when we’re down.
I can’t count the amount of times my dog helped me out of a rough spot just by being there.
These amazing dogs are trained to specifically help victims, like veterans, who are suffering from PTSD.

And this big ole soft Rottweiler is certainly a huge help for this man.
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a disease typically caused when a person witnesses truly trumatic events, like war, horrible violence, or child abuse. Sufferers of PTSD can have triggers which make them feel like they’re right back in the traumatic event.
As time goes on, we learn that more and more soldiers come back with crippling amounts of PTSD. They are completely unable to go back to civilian life and constantly feel like they’re back on the battlefield.
Unfortunately it takes a trained professional (or a trained dog!) to help those suffering in the moment. These service dogs are trained to help reduce the intense anxiety attacks that come along with PTSD.
This video shows how important these dogs are for veterans suffering from PTSD. As he appears to be going through an episode, the dog instantly knows how to help him out of it.
It looks like the dog is just looking for attention, but the dog is actually trained to know when a person is struggling with their PTSD and anxiety, and to help them focus on something else.
This dog is truly helping this man through his illness. It’s incredible.
