With an Instagram post that had the picture of De Niro, Rourke called out De Niro over the latter’s alleged involvement in stopping Rourke from appearing in Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman”.

Calling De Niro a “big [expletive] crybaby”, Rourke said he heard from a friend about how De Niro was going behind his back, calling him a liar to Newspaper reporters. Saying that he has never been called a liar by anyone except by De Niro, Rourke seemed infuriated by the characterization.

Back in September of last year, Rourke began claiming that he was casted for a role in “The Irishman” until De Niro intervened. The Netflix produced film was very positively received by both fans and critics alike, especially because it reunited De Niro with fellow “Godfather” alumni Al Pacino.

During a TV interview with an Italian channel, Rourke claimed that Scorsese reached out to him regarding an undisclosed role in the movie. At this time, it seems like that the casting was mostly complete because Rourke said he knew De Niro and Pacino, along with Joe Pesci, were all involved.

Rourke said he was very excited in partaking in the project, until he found out that he did not get a role in the film. The actor argues that a casting manager explained to him that the retraction was because De Niro refused to work with Rourke.

On the other hand, De Niro’s representative argued that none of the producers or casting managers offered or even though of casting Rourke in the film.

Regardless of the veracity, Rourke clearly expressed his anger at De Niro. Rourke swore upon his family and pet dogs that he will avenge this shame on De Niro the next time the two meet.

While the exact cause or details behind the feud between the two actors are not known, the only time that the two worked together was in Alan Parker’s 1987 film “Angel Heart”.
