The Royal Navy has deployed to act against the unusually high levels of activity shown by the warships of Russia.
The warships were spotted in the UK waters as the country fights the outbreak of coronavirus.
Nine vessels and a helicopter were sent to shadow the 7 Russian warships in the North Sea and the English Channel in the last week.
The Navy said that they did not trust the intentions and reasons why the warships were there. Because of the same, the navy had monitored every single move or activity of the warships as it could be an action by Putin amid coronavirus.
Concerns have also been coming stating that Russia is behind some disinformation on the diseases. This disinformation may be used by Russia to cause temporary panic among the public.
Lieutenant Nick Ward, HMS Tyne’s Executive Officer said that even though the navy is working endlessly to serve the patients of the virus, they are still not moving their focus from their primary focus of protecting the borders and sea routes of the country for its security.
Offshore Patrol Vessels HMS Tyne and HMS Mersey for the operation were joined in for the operation by HMS Sutherland, HMS Argyll, Type 23 frigates HMS Kent, and HMS Richmond.
Lieutenant Ward on the matter said “We can see the armed forces of the UK are busy serving the country at this time of crisis. Because of it, the navy is taking the full charge and is working endlessly to serve its duty of protecting the country.
It is a part of the routine for the navy to take patrolling vessels out and perform.
We are doing our business and upholding the tight security of the UK.”
The aircrew and vessel both have said to be witnessing the activities lead on by the Russian warships. As of now, there has been no attack but the future is uncertain.
