An investigation was carried out by VICE within the House of Parliament to check whether the aspiring bunch of Prime Ministers are actually clean in their habits now or not.
VICE chose 9 locations, out of which four came out with positive cocaine results. These four locations were found to be contaminated by the Class A drug.
These locations included the Norman Shaw North, which is a building full of MP’s offices. The test was done with simple cocaine test kits, in which pink swags turn blue when contacted with cocaine. The men’s washroom on the third floor were swiped blue on a test.
More such samples were picked from around the Stranger’s Bar, and two positives came from toilets in private areas of the building outside those offices, and toilets around MP’s offices.
Another positive test came from the disabled’s toilets outside The Woolsack. It is another bar in the Palace of Westminster which is frequently visited by outsiders and staff alike.
This all started when Theresa May dropped the news of her stepping down as the leader of the Conservative Party. The aspiring Prime Ministers looked eager to share their stories of illegal drug use.
There were revelations from Rory Stewart to have smoked opium while in Iran. Dominic Raab said that he had smoked weed as a student at Oxford. Michael Gove admitted to having snorted cocaine in a private meeting in 2016. Andrea Leadson also admitted to having smoked a spliff in her university days.
These disclosures led to accusations of hypocrisy. The rage was because politicians who are responsible for maintaining a system that criminalises drug users and drugs have been doing the same.
A parliamentary spokesperson said that the Parliament takes such issues of substance misuse very seriously and is ready to provide aid to those in need.
