The gigantic picture of the teen activist is more than four stories high and shows her above the chest.

The project is being financed by non-profit OneAtmosphere.org.

Paul Scott, the executive director of the organization, told CNN that the mural is aimed at appreciating the efforts of climate activists via art.

He said that Thunberg was the top candidate among inspiring climate change activists.

“If we can amplify her message and get more people involved and listening to what she’s saying, then we’re doing some good,” Paul said.

He added that the response from the public has been positive about the monument, with some people not liking it because they couldn’t actually recognize who she is.

“They’re struck by the image and want to learn more,” he continued.

“If they take the time to learn more about what she’s trying to share, that I think has an impact on most people. Makes them want to help.”

The artist behind the mural is Andrés Petreselli, the same artist who made Robin Williams’ portrait for the city.

Thunberg was praised by people across the globe after she showed no mercy to the world leaders in her speech at the 2019 UN climate summit.

The 16-year-old was also admired for the way she gazed at Trump when he was leaving the summit.

Petreselli regards Thunberg as a person who has successfully done something to make the world a better place.

“We’re pretty much at the beginning of our extinction, so if we don’t do anything right now, it’s going to be too late,” the artist told CNN.

Thunberg is being immortalized in other parts of the world as well. In Bristol, England, they’ve made a mural of the activist showing her partially submerged in water.

Canada and Turkey are also among the countries where artists have painted murals of the teen activist.

Since that time, she has been seen with prominent figures like Leonardo DiCaprio and ex-president Barack Obama for the climate cause and has spoken on a number of important platforms including the United Nations and the US Congress.
