Barack Obama’s youngest daughter, Sasha Obama, 17, attended her prom last Friday ahead of graduation from Sidwell Friends High School.
Wearing a classic black dress, Sasha looked stunning and graceful as she posed with her date, Chris Milton, at the event in Washington.
Milton, who was wearing a black tux, stood arm-in-arm with the former first daughter as the duo left onlookers filled with admiration.
After the photos of the pair emerged online, social media users were quick to exclaim how cute they looked together.
“That’s Sasha Obama?! Wow, stunningly beautiful!” a Twitter user wrote. “And because she’s President Obama and Mrs. Obama’s daughter, I’m sure she’s brilliant too!”
Sasha’s elder sister Malia and mom Michelle were proudly present at the event as can be seen in their beaming photos taken before the party.
The internet users joked about Chris Milton, saying the teen has shown incredible courage in asking the daughter of the 44th president to the prom.
“Can we just appreciate the absolute guts this kid must have had during the ‘dad talk’ with Barack,” one user tweeted.
Some social media users quipped how the American Secret Service will have started keeping 24/7 watch on the young guy.
“Young fella look like he sees Secret Service in her peripheral in all of these [pictured] lol,” one person wrote.
Luckily for Milton, Obama – who has a previous record of cautioning his daughter’s intended partners in the guise of playful communication – didn’t appear on the celebration.
In 2016, the former president warned the boys who seemed to be interested in his daughters, saying that his girls ‘have Secret Service’ details and trained killers just at a distance of few feet from them.
The former president also issued a warning shot to the Jonas Brothers while speaking at White House Association Dinner in 2010.
“Don’t get any ideas, boys,” Obama said. “I have two words for you: Predator Drones.”
However, in reality, Obama has a somewhat laid-back attitude toward the love lives of his daughters, the former president told WDCG.
“The truth is, I’m quite relaxed about it for two reasons,” he said. “One is Michelle — she’s such a great example of how she carries herself, her self-esteem, not depending on boys to validate how you look or not letting yourself be judged by anything other than your character and intelligence.
“Hopefully, I’ve been a good example in terms of how I show respect to my wife.”
Michelle recalled in her memoir, Becoming, how they allowed Sasha’s elder sister Malia to go to prom with her date in a limousine without security guards in 2015.
It’s not known if the same exemption was made for Sasha as well.
Sasha, who’ll be taking a gap-year, will start her bachelors at the University of Michigan in 2021.
The teen allegedly declined admission at Yale, as she has decided not to attend an Ivy League school like 20-year-old Malia, who is currently attending Harvard.
Sasha said she’ll be studying at the Ann Arbor school with her close friends – who she calls her ‘sisters.’
Taking to Instagram in December 2018, Sasha shared a photo of herself with two of her friends standing in front of Michigan’s football stadium.
“So proud to say I’m going to college with my sisters!!” she captioned the photo.
