Everyone knows that the Amazon forest is on fire.
Amazon rain forest is known to be the lungs of planet earth.
It is replete with irreplaceable and delicate landscapes that provide oxygen to the world. But due to wildfires, the rain forest is destroying. Brazil’s national institute for Space Research (INPE) reported that till now the forest has seen more than 72000 wildfires.
But as global warming is increasing so it was observed that within a year these wildfires have also amplified till 40,000.
Some human actions disturb the cycle of nature and thus awaked things that start happening such as deforestation. When deforestation increases the whole region dries up.
A low amount of rainfall and dry grasslands also add to the reason for wildfires and the fire erupts which is almost uncontrollable.
In addition to deforestation, cattle grazing is another factor of wildfires. Cattle grazing disturbs the grasslands and are prohibited.
Logging also adds to the reasons for wildfires. Amazon forest is considered to be the defense system of the earth which absorbs tons of carbon dioxide but due to wildfires it is emitting carbon dioxide.
It is not only important because of the biodiversity but almost 110 million indigenous people live in Amazon.
Wildfires are making the cultural survival and determination of those tribal people on risk. So it is high time to save Amazon.
Leonardo de Caprio has announced that he will donate 5m dollars to save the Amazon forest. He is the co-founder of Earth Alliance which is an environmental group.
They aim to protect the lungs of this planet along with providing safety to the indigenous clans residing over there. Dicaprio said that 3 million species and 1 million lives are starving for peace which we need to provide.
Two billionaires L. Powell Jobs and B. Sheth founded Earth Alliance with Dicaprio.
They have formed an earth emergency fund these funds will be transferred to the local organizations and indigenous people living there.
The local organizations which combat these wildfires are: Instituto Associacao Floresta Protegiada, Coordination of the Indigenous organizations, Instituto Kabu, Instituto Raoni, Instituto Socioambiental.
Earth Alliance urges that people will help them to combat wildfires and will help to save the “lungs of the planet earth”.
