A school was forced to ban parents from throwing their children over the gates after numerous incidents involving hasty parents and locked school gates.
The bizarre warning was issued at Trillade, a primary school based in Avignon, France, where some parents reportedly threw their kids over the fence after running late.
To stop the parents from committing the dangerous act and protect kids from potential injuries, school officials decided to share a clear warning in front of the gates.
“I’m not throwing my children over the gate!” the poster, which also shows an illustration of a parent throwing their kid over the fence, reads.
As the school explained, some parents resorted to extreme measures to get their kids in school after running late. Since the school gates get temporarily closed at 8.30 in the morning, there is no easy way to get the children in if parents are late.
According to the warning, parents who miss the deadline should avoid throwing their kids over the gates. Instead, they should bring them back to school at 10 am or 3 pm when the gates reopen.
“Parents arriving after the bell were literally throwing their kids,” headteacher Sanaa Meziane told The Times as she explained how school employees were getting tired of “irresponsible” parents.
While the headteacher admitted the incident didn’t happen on a regular basis, she pointed out that action needed to be taken on their side in order to prevent potential accidents on the school premises.
